Earlier this month, Kay Hagan (D-NC) refused to attend an event with President Obama, in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he delivered a major economic policy speech and announced a new high-tech manufacturing hub.
However, during tonight’s State of the Union address, President Obama specifically praised the Raleigh manufacturing program that Hagan skipped.
Hagan was seen clapping for the manufacturing hub, but remember, she was too afraid of President Obama to join him.

Just last month, Sen. Kay Hagan’s (D-NC) spokeswoman downplayed accusations that Hagan was intentionally avoiding President Obama, stating, “she’d certainly have him campaign for her.”
“But Republicans are distributing a WTVD news clip that says Hagan didn’t answer directly when asked if she would appear alongside the president. That’s nonsense, says Hagan spokeswoman Sadie Weiner. Hagan ‘has said she’d certainly have him campaign’ for her, Weiner said.”
This Wednesday, President Obama is visiting North Carolina to deliver a major policy speech on the economy. So… is Hagan going to be seen standing beside Obama?
Nope. Instead, Hagan is going to stay in Washington, D.C.
Just last year Hagan also refused to attend an Obama event in North Carolina.
However, on October 17, 2011, three years away from her re-election campaign, Hagan traveled to Asheville, North Carolina for President Obama’s American Jobs Act bus tour.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: I want to recognize a couple people who are here. First of all, one of the outstanding senators in the United States Senate, your Senator, Kay Hagan, is in the house.
The front page of this morning's Des Moines Register highlights the big drop in Obama’s approval rating among Iowans, which now stands at 37%. With Obama’s popularity at an all time low in the state, surely Iowa Democrats like Bruce Braley and Staci Appel can’t wait for him to hit the campaign trail for them next year.

President Obama, under fire for his oft-repeated false claim that those who had and liked their health insurance could keep it under Obamacare, will be campaigning today for Terry McAuliffe. We’d like Virginians to remember some of the times he lied directly to them. Last year in Virginia Beach he told voters “If you already have health care, the only thing this bill does is make sure that it’s even more secure and insurance companies can’t jerk you around”:
In 2010, Obama, speaking at George Mason University, was even more blunt saying without qualification:
If you like your doctor, you’re going to be able to keep your doctor. If you like your plan, keep your plan.
