Kerry’s Testimony Reminder That Hillary Clinton Supports Flawed Nuclear Deal With Iran

Secretary of State John Kerry will appear today before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to discuss the controversial Iran nuclear deal. Because Hillary Clinton issaid to “own” the Iran deal, it is worth reviewing some provisions Clinton has supported that are now being challenged.

Inspections are emerging as one of the most significant concerns surrounding the deal. Clinton, in April, called for an “intrusive inspection program with no sites off limits,” and last week said the deal included “unyielding verification.” But the inspection provisions in the deal are now under fire for being inadequate:

The Obama administration’s claim that the Iran nuclear accord provides for airtight verification procedures is coming under challenge from nuclear experts with long experience in monitoring Tehran’s program. … [S]everal experts, including a former high-ranking official at the International Atomic Energy Agency, said a provision that gives Iran up to 24 days to grant access to inspectors might enable it to escape detection.

Clinton claimed the nuclear agreement “can make the United States, Israel, and our Arab partners safer,” adding later in her statement that the US must be “clear-eyed” about “the broader threat Iran represents.” But Clinton has not been clear-eyed about the nuclear agreement she is supporting – the very agreement Clinton claimed can make America safer is said to free up over $100 billion for Iran. The unsettling belief that Iran will use these funds, in part, for terrorism is widespread.

The Washington Post: Its most immediate effect will be to provide Tehran with up to $150 billion in fresh assets from sanctions relief over the next year, funds that its leaders will probably use to revive the domestic economy but also to finance wars and terrorist groups in Iraq, Syria, the Gaza Strip, Yemen and elsewhere.

A Wall Street Journal report: Iran will uphold its anti-American policies and continue to support regional allies inimical to Western interests, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Saturday

Despite Clinton’s rhetoric, this nuclear deal is facing serious questions from experts and given the lack of resounding support on Capitol Hill, it is only likely to get worse.

3 Controversial Issues A “Liberated” Hillary Clinton Won’t Give An Opinion On

While sitting down with her former speechwriter Lissa Muscatine, Hillary Clinton said she was “totally done with being really careful about what to say” and claimed it was ”liberating” to speak her mind. Yet the “liberated” Hillary seems a lot like the old cautious Hillary. The Week calls it her authenticity problem. Time notes that “Hard Choices” actually avoided many hard choices.

Here are 3 controversial issues that she has refused to give an opinion on during her disastrous book roll-out; all have come after her claim to be “done being really careful about what to say.”

1. Estate Tax: Bloomberg reported that the Clintons use financial management strategies to avoid paying “hundreds of thousands of dollars in estate taxes.” When asked about her position on estate taxes, Clinton’s spokesperson “didn’t answer additional questions about their finances or her current views on the estate tax.”

2. Keystone Pipeline: While promoting her book in Canada, Clinton avoided the question of whether she would support the Keystone XL Pipeline three times: On Canadian TV, at Toronto’s Chamber of Commerce and in an interview with The Globe and Mail. Apparently Clinton can talk about events a world away that pose a “hard choice” to Secretary of State John Kerry but can’t discuss an oil pipeline that will create thousands of jobs and help the United States become energy independent. As The Washington Post points out, Clinton “would risk alienating herself” from billionaires like Tom Steyer.

3. Federal Right to Gay Marriage: Clinton avoided answering a question about her support for gay marriage despite being asked about it TEN times in a single interview.MSNBC tried to clarify Clinton’s stance on state gay marriage laws and even after “repeated requests” a Clinton spokesman “would not give a direct yes or no answer to whether Clinton believes states have the authority to ban same-sex marriage.” MSNBC notes that her statementon gay marriage “doesn’t directly speak to the issue.”

What a straight shooter!

Romney Slams Hillary on Iraq, Russia

Appearing on Meet the Press on Sunday, Mitt Romney struck at the heart of the faults with the Hillary State Dept Foreign Policy.

What you’ve seen from this administration, whether from Hillary Clinton with the reset button to Russia which by the way should have been called the repeat button, this administration from Secretary clinton to President Obama has repeatedly underestimated the threats that are faced by America, has repeatedly underestimated our adversaries. Whether that’s Russia or Assad or ISIS or al-Qaeda itself, its not taken the action necessary to prevent bad things from happening. It has not used our influence to do what’s necessary to protect our interests.
