Maggie Hassan Supports Third Worst Tax Climate

Maggie Hassan’s budget is chasing business out of New Hampshire. Under pressure to work with Republicans to cut the state’s high business taxes, Hassan refuses again and again to take on the task.

New Hampshire maintains the third-highest corporate income tax in the nation. Meanwhile, Hassan scoffed at lowering business taxes, saying that lowering taxes won’t “magically grow the economy.”

But driving businesses out of the state certainly won’t grow the state’s economy either.

Minnesota Dem Supports Another Gas Tax

Yesterday, Rep. Rick Nolan held a news conference announcing his support for a new federal gas tax. MPR News reports.

Nolan has a long history of supporting gas taxes. During his first stint in Congress, Nolan supported increasing the gas tax in 1975. Same “Radical Rick,” same failed policies.

Canadian Tax Experts Say Clintons Are Lying About Not Disclosing Donors

Bloomberg reported this morning that “[t]here are in fact 1,100 undisclosed donors to the Clinton Foundation … most of them non-U.S. residents who donated to [the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership] CGEP.”

The Clintons agreed to disclose their donors when Hillary Clinton became President Obama’s Secretary of State. That didn’t happen, and now the Clinton Foundation and Frank Giustra, a named partner of CGEP—a Clinton Foundation affiliate—is claiming that’s because Canadian law forbids disclosure. Giustra is a Canadian citizen and CGEP is based in Canada.

That disclosure claim has run into, well, the facts, as nearly every Canadian expert asked for comment shot down that defense as false.
